UP to the Challenge
Urban Preparatory Academy in Wichita isn't just unique. As a private, tuition-based, K-7 school, we work to meet the needs of ALL students. We understand that parents want their children to receive a quality education regardless of their family's socioeconomic status (low income, working-class, etcetera). And because every child learns differently, our caring teachers work with students one-on-one to discover the ways they can best learn. This makes us one of a kind!
Higher Learning Earlier
At Urban Prep, we believe that every child deserves an opportunity to be in an environment that enables them to use their strengths to excel.
We approach their education with the principle we call “Higher Learning Earlier” – preparing and empowering our children with the necessary skill sets to function in a rapidly changing world.
We provide a full range of technological and computer learning opportunities, combined with performing arts, as well as an athletic program that stresses school-wide participation and teaches the values of sportsmanship and fair play. Our curriculum combines the rigor of classroom education integrated with an online experience designed for a contemporary society. Students learn about character, ethics, empathy and self-esteem implicitly by studying and interacting with community businesses and leaders.
At Urban Prep, we do not turn any potential students away because of financial hardships. We work hard to help find scholarship opportunities for families who see Urban Prep as the right school for their child's educational journey. Please contact our main office for the Urban Prep acceptance policy and financial aid opportunities.

Our Mission, Our Goal
Our mission is to provide students with a world-class school that gives students the knowledge, skills, character, and disposition to meet and exceed Kansas State Common Core Learning Standards, and prepares students for college and career. We will be a leading example of education in our community by becoming the first school of choice. We will grow a grade level each year until we reach 12th grade.
Our goal is to build students’ intellectual character, motivating them to think critically, creatively, and reflectively in an environment infused with community empowerment. Our instructional methods, educational philosophy and mission are carefully aligned to promote high academic achievement. We will partner with families and community organizations to help students develop the necessary skills to navigate the path to academic and career success.
